INDUSTRIAL ERECTION Case Study
Nippon electric glass furnace rebuild
Nippon Electric Glass, one of the world's leading manufacturers of glass, has conveyed its recognition to Dominion as an excellent service provider and has highlighted its "exceptional" work in the execution of the work performed at their facility in Wigan, United Kingdom.
Dominion was responsible for the demolition and complete rebuild of one of their furnaces, tagged No. 501, along with a number of ancillary works. The works had to be completed during a shutdown, so it was critical that all the teams on site worked together towards the common goal of producing product within the very tight schedule constraints with the furnace being the hub for all activities. The refractory work, completed in a five week period (demolition commencement to handover) was handed over on time, within budget with no lost time accidents. As well as the refractory works, Dominion also installed the gas and combustion equipment for the furnace operation and refurbished the plant in the forming area. The refurbishment of the forming area involved the dismantling and rebuild of the forming stations.
