The President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, has visited the new Antofagasta "Leonardo Guzmán" Hospital, together with the ministers of Health, Carmen Castillo, and Public Works, Alberto Undurraga. A "tremendous project", as the head of state affirms, in which Sacyr Concesiones and DOMINION have collaborated together under a concession scheme, managing their construction and equipment respectively.
A project that has resulted in a 123,000 m2 facility, that houses 671 beds, with three main buildings: the 9-story Hospitalization Tower (HT) and the 4-story Therapeutic Diagnostic Center (TDC) and the 4-story Critical Patient Unit (CPU). According to Bachelet, "It’s the most important public hospital in the North macro-area, because of its complexity, its capacity for attention, its modern infrastructure and latest equipment". It has been precisely in the modernity of its equipment and infrastructure, where DOMINION's digital and technological expertise has been indispensable.
The company has acquired, integrated and commissioned all the medical equipment, clinical and non-clinical furniture, computer equipment, data center and clinical and hospital applications, as well as industrial equipment and furniture associated with the infrastructure. Following its opening on November 2nd, DOMINION will also manage its operation and maintenance for the next 15 years.
A technological task that responds to the Chilean government's commitment to strengthen public health in the country "with more investment, modernizing its equipment, increasing the number of doctors and specialists, improving and expanding care programs," as Bachelet explained. All of this with the aim of ensuring that people receive a "dignified, high-quality and convenient treatment".
This new hospital not only marks a turning point in Chilean health, but also consolidates DOMINION's capacity to manage large projects in an innovative and highly technological way, in order to guarantee the efficiency and well-being of its users and workers.
