The challenge
Growing demand for electricity and the need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels have prompted the Dominican Republic to accelerate its transition to a more sustainable energy model. In this context, DOMINION Green took on the challenge of building the La Victoria photovoltaic park, with a comprehensive proposal covering everything from the design and construction of the plant to its commissioning and subsequent operation and maintenance.
DOMINION's added value
Since work began in 2023, our team has led the development of this ambitious project, which has an installed capacity of 64.7 MWp and almost 99,000 solar panels, capable of generating more than 112,000 MWh of clean energy per year. This production will prevent the emission of tens of thousands of tons of CO₂ per year, directly contributing to the country's climate goals. The plant represents an investment of $93 million and has been built in compliance with the highest technical and environmental standards.
Results
The La Victoria solar park is a new step towards the Dominican Republic's goal of sourcing at least 25% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025. In addition, the project has generated hundreds of direct and indirect jobs during its construction, promoting local economic development and strengthening the country's energy independence.
This plant joins other landmark projects led by DOMINION in the region, such as the Mata de Palma park, inaugurated in 2019, with 65 MW of power and more than 200,000 solar panels distributed over 75 hectares.
