As is the case in most industrial companies, Gonvarri lacked a system that would allow them to know and control in detail the energy consumption of their production plants which could mean more than 60% of the production costs. It was a priority to find a solution that would allow them to take specific and well-founded measures on this matter.
Accordingly, they hired Dominion based on its digital transformation skills in industrial environments to implement a tailor-made solution.
Aware of the fact that digital energy control is one of the key goals of industrial companies, Dominion developed its own solution for the control and monitoring of industrial energy consumption. The solution allows companies to control - using a platform - energy consumption (electricity, gas, compressed air, water, etc.) at the plant and on the production line in real time, to use the information to implement energy efficiency improvements and measure their effectiveness. Dominion offers a comprehensive energy solution that includes implementation of the solution through to subsequent operation and maintenance. We can also identify, implement and monitor any identified efficiency improvements.
In the particular case of Gonvarri, the tasks carried out to implement this solution were as follows:
- Field engineering
- Analysis of the layout of the plant, including all electrical items, measurements and telecommunications systems
- The design and installation of physical applications that allow for data collection.
- Virtual platform application
- Implementation of DOMINION's proprietary software that allows the connection and reading of all collected signals, turning them into interpretable data.
Integration of the solution with the client's management platforms (ERP, MES, etc.).
The client currently has detailed and real-time energy consumption control at 17 production plants. The platform informs the user of the critical points and allows them to implement and analyze the effect of ESMs (Energy Saving Measures) so as to increase efficiency and reduce production costs.
The success of the project has led the client to increase the initial scope, adding 6 new production plants to the 17 where this solution has already been implemented. Implementation at these 6 new plants will begin at the end of 2020.
